Pronouncing Missouri as Missour-ah just makes us all sound like a bunch of ignorant hayseeds. Half of the population of Missour-ee is just dead wrong! Here you go - pronounce the following words: macaroni, spaghetti, pepsi, bikini, safari, chili, taxi, .... and there are probably hundreds more! Did you say "AH" at the end of any of those words?? If you did - you might just be a dumb@$$. Maybe it's helpful to also point out that Missour-ee ranks in the bottom half of the country in overall education rankings.

The only thing you failed to report is that some people pronounce DeSoto "dee-soda" or "day-soda." Maybe in your next report...

When I was a kid the Post covered a statewide poll and the results were 50/50 with no one area having much of a preference. I like to say Missouruh for the fun of it and get ribbed often. Perhaps it is no different than thee or thuh...

I was born and raised in Missourieee! I went to college in Missourieee! However, the folks that I went to college with and friends with outside of St. Louis, said Missourahhhh. I also grew up saying you eat a chocolate sundae(prounounced sun dah)in St.Louis. But my little Ozark college town said,"SUNDAY!" They also said,"Sant Louis! In the final analysis, it is Missourieeee!

missourah is only used by politicians and pundits who are intentionally trying to sound folksy. it's a fun observation, but not a legit question.
